*EDWARD H. MANLEY, CW, CFE, DHCFA*

A Staten Island, NY, native, Ed spent 21 years in the Navy, advancing through Chief Hospital Corpsman and subsequently to Lieutenant Commander, Medical Service Corps. Tours included Iceland, Cuba, Washington/Annapolis, the Aircraft Carrier Saratoga, Marine Corps medic - Camp Lejeune, Cornell University and Orlando, Florida.

After receiving his B.S. in Hotel Management from Cornell, Ed was stationed in Orlando, where his future as Founder and President of W.I.N. became predictable.  He very soon became a 2 year President of the Orlando Branch of the Int'l Food Service Executives Association (IFSEA), 5 year Chapter President of the Cornell Society of Hotelmen, Vice President of the Cornell Club, and President of the club for his daughters high school choral group - all at the same time; he also completed 2000 hours of an auto mechanic program but had new cars that never required repair.

Navy retirement brought work in South Florida, where he went right into a 2 year Presidency of that Branch of IFSEA. His projects there included founding (and running, of course) the Taste of South Florida & Christmas Party for underprivileged children. During his 8 years as a hospital Food Service Director in Pompano Beach, Florida, with a catering/school food service company on the side, Ed was a member of many associations and on the board of most.  Ed went through the International positions and ultimately became IFSEA's Chairman of the Board, and subsequently its President (paid staff) in 1989.   His company, E. H. Manley and Associates, currently manages IFSEA and the Workaholics International Network.

As President of IFSEA, Ed organizes the conferences; develops the communications, including the web site (www.ifsea.com); desk top publishes the magazine, HOTLINE; provides staff for the processing of dues, conference and other payments and the needs of an organization which spans almost 90 senior and student branches around the world and some 3500 members; manages the professional certification program; and is responsible to bring new and creative ideas to further the associations goals.  IFSEA, founded in 1901, has many important projects ongoing, including student scholarships and other aid, support of military food service excellence awards programs, IFSEA Feeds the Hungry, and more.

Listed in numerous publications, including Who's Who in America & Who's Who in the World, he holds a Master of Science in Management degree from Rollins College.

The founding of the Workaholics International Network (WIN) was a long time in the works, stemming from a conversation Ed and his wife, Judy, had while on a driving trip two years ago.  Suddenly, the time seemed right to put those ideas into action.  There are millions of people in the world who are, or who act like, Workaholics.  We thought they needed a place to go so they can see they aren't alone, that they can laugh at themselves, and that they can feel of a part of an honor society of people who really do make significant difference in the world we live in.  It isn't the couch potatoes who are making a difference, it's the Workaholics.

Coaching has become a cornerstone activity of WIN thanks to the special expertise of its founder.  Whether it is personal problems, job seeking or advancement within ones workplace, Ed can help.

Ed currently serves as Chairman of Hospitality and Tourism Futures (HTF), a voluntary partnership of the National Skill Standards Board (created by Congress in 1994 to build a voluntary national system of skill standards with the goal to enhance U. S. global competitiveness and raise the living standard of all Americans.)   The HTF is responsible to establish standards for the entire hospitality and tourism sector.

Ed's wife, Judith Harvey Manley, CFE, a Montreal, Canada native and recently a new U. S. citizen, is Past President of the Canadian Food Service Executives Association.  She currently owns J&J Marketing International, which focuses its efforts on trade show management and other projects for the Canadian government.
